Q. Are there ways I can reduce my fuel bills?
A. Yes there are lots of ways:
- Switch of lights when you walk out of a room and are not returning
- Energy Saving light bulbs use up to 80% less electricity than a standard light bulb, but produce the same amount of light.
- Turn your central heating down 1 degree and cut your heating bills by up to 10% (but you must keep warm)
- If you have radiator valves, turn the radiators off in rooms you are not using.
- If you have your electricity and gas from the same supplier, it could be cheaper
- Electric kettles – boil only as much water as you need for your cup of tea/coffee
- Putting a lid on your pan will reduce the amount of time it takes to boil
Q.I can’t afford to pay my gas or electricity bill – what can I do?
A. Contact your gas or electricity supplier as soon as possible.
Q. A lot of my appliances go into standby and won’t switch off completely – is there anything I can do?
A. Yes there is something called a Standby Buster, which lets you switch off appliances completely, so they use no electricity. For more details visit www.standbybuster.com
